First red skirt

I had never made a skirt before and my sewing machine skills are very limited. BUT with the power of YouTube and books from the library! I was able to make a skirt that fits! The picture below shows the end results but the fabric was a little see through so I decided to put another layer on top. 

The material shown in the picture below was used on top of the skirt. I have no idea what the material is made of or what it is called. I found it in the scrap fabric pile at the fabric store. 

I used a pattern I bought from Joann's.
